About the Author
Abdullah Yusuf Ali was born on 4 April 1872, in Surat, a textile town in Gujarat, Western India, which formed part of the ‘Presidency of Mumbai’ in the days of Raj. He belonged to a mercantile community known as the Bohras, who trace their Muslim ancestry to the efforts of preachers dispatched by the Fatimid caliphs in Cairo. His father, a merchant, was a very religious man who made sure that his son learned Qur’an before anything else. Upon the completion of young Yusuf’s committing the entire Qur’an to memory, his father celebrated the occasion with a grand banquet, thus showing to his son the importance of his achievement and the importance of the Qur’an. In addition to studying contemporary knowledge at school, “Abdullah continued to receive lessons in Arabic language and never ceased in his studies of the Qur’an.

A very beautiful Qur'an, with helpful explanations, perfect for reading in Arabic, even if U can't read really Arabic, but to try to pronounce it and have a translation with it. I can really recommend it.
A Must-Have For Those Learning To Recite Qur'an
Three words about this Qur'an: EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!This Qur'an is an absolute must have for those who are seriously interested in learning how to read/recite the Qur'an.The pages of this Qur'an are broken down into 3 columns. On the far right, column 1, is the Arabic text. Column 2, in the middle, is the transliteration of the Arabic text and in column 3, over to the far left, is the English translation.The quality of the book is good: Hardcover not paperback. The quality of the pages it is printed on is very good and the print quality of the text is excellent. It is very easy to understand everything that is written on the page. Also, what I love is the font size of the text; very very easy to read. I am not sure what the font size is set to [10pts, 11pts, 12pts etc.] but they made the font size big enough to where you do not have to squint and guess what you are reading; this is especially important when it comes to the Arabic text. The Arabic text is set in a darker black text color compared to the English and transliteration that is on the page and it is very clear and easy to read; this is also good for those who are, not only learning to recite the Qur'an, but also for those who are actually learning to read and speak the Arabic language itself! The transliteration is also very good. It is written very well and [it] flows with the Arabic words beautifully.For those of you who just simply want to use the transliteration to help you with some Arabic words from time to time when reading the Qur'an then this is a great buy. For those of you who truly want to learn to recite Qur'an AND are learning the Arabic language itself, then this is hands-down a great investment for your Islamic library. For those who are learning recitation, I highly recommend using this book in conjunction with the FREE online Qur'an reciter at the website: quranexplorer(dot)com. I am currently learning how to read and speak Arabic. The website I mentioned above combined with this excellent Qur'an will well put you on the way to reciting Qur'an just like the beautiful Qur'an reciters in Makkah (Mecca) like Mishari-Rashid.Hope this helps.
