Laura Jane Clarke right here in book form for you. Hurray!! Absolutely loved this book - whether you are thinking of changing your own space - or just a lover of how interiors and space work. Laura writes beautifully in a very accessible way that explains the fundamentals of our home spaces from drawing your own plan, to illustrating how the flow of a space works, to final finishes. It is exactly as described - a Handbook of Home Design for everyone - not a degree thesis for architect students! Loved the layout of the book and there are also beautiful images and photos illustrating her point. Laura is a total genius in my opinion and her talent and love of what she does is now offered here away from the television screen and in book form too. Highly recommended!

This book is well written, clearly laid out and beautifully designed. I'm so glad we got a copy. It has given us loads of ideas and practical advice to reimagine our poorly designed home. Laura has a wealth of knowledge. Lots of gorgeous photos and transformations. We've not only been inspired but we're feeling more confident and equipped about starting our new project (which didn't seem attainable before) and it's not going to cost us the earth! Thank you Laura, we love the tv show too. Highly Recommend!

I found this book exceptionally good with clear descriptions and insights into how the author carries out her home design practice. I've been trying to think of ways to redesign my cottage for ages, but didn't really understand what good looked like. Now, with the flow, light and storage concepts, I think I've come up with some good ideas and can actually see how these things work together. Great descriptions and illustrations and the writing style is really friendly and easy going. Would highly recommend for any budding home designers.

I loved all the writing and advice from Laura Jane Clark and will no doubt use it in my upcoming home renovation. It's genius to give non architects the tools to have sensible and enlightened conversations about what we really want in our homes.I have only deducted a star because I found the kindle formatting really difficult. Undoubtedly this has nothing to do with Laura Jane's writing. Some of the pictures ended up being in multiple places and useful summary boxes randomly came in the middle of chapters. I'd suggest you get the hardback version if that's open to you.

There is so much information and so many ideas in this book; however the writing style and layout makes it so easy to follow and presents it in a light and often amusing way.I already sound like a professional designer when talking to my friends about their renovation ideas. So much so that I will either have to charge for consultations or come clean to then on the source of my knowledge.

Some lovely inspiring projects but I found some of the descriptions a little confusing, needed more pics (or plans) to explain. More annotations on the plans would have been helpful. Definitely made me think about storage and doors in a new way.

So much food for thought in terms of ‘re-shaping and maximising space in our Edwardian Home’. If there are areas you don’t love or want to change in your home, the amazing Laura Jane Clark’s book will guide you from ‘fair’ to ‘fabulous’. We know how talented Laura is in all her tv appearances and in her Instagram reels. Congratulations Laura for transferring those skills to down to earth, accessible communication in writing. You share your personal energy, sense of humour and incredible knowledge and creativity to help the reader understand and have confidence to change and enrich our personal space. If you want your home to ‘work for you’ and not ‘against you’ - The Handbook of Home Design is a must.

This is the only book on interior design a novice like me can understand. I have an eye for design but hadn't a clue about interior design - due to buy a house soon and needed guidance. I was looking for something with great depth but easy explanations and this is it.This book covers all aspects of home design, from architecture to interior. I especially loved learning about the different eras of buildings (victorian, 1940s, etc.) and how they're typically laid out and what problems occur due to the period it was built, such as lack of storage or a tiny bathroom.I love learning about the author's rules for home design - I had some kind of idea about them but didn't fully understand it or know how to use them correctly. I also enjoy the imagery because it really helps me visualise the points being made, for example, ways to utilise space and structural properties.I'm about half way through this book, because I'm taking every once of it in and really enjoying it! I'm moving onto interior design now and can't wait!Fabulous book that everyone should buy if they love making their home a home that works for them.
Concise volume
I really like how the contents of this book are presented. Straightforward without being too basic.
