About the Author

Tom Sherrington started teaching in 1987 and has had a 30 year career in education. He's now in demand as a consultant and conference speaker, working with schools and colleges to improve teaching, curriculum and assessment. He is the author of 'The Learning Rainforest', described as 'one of the best teaching books of all time' by Book Authority.

Oliver Caviglioli is uniquely placed to bridge the gap between education and graphic design. A former special school head teacher, Oliver learned design principles from an early age from his architect and typographer father. Four decades of reading educational research found its visual expression in his spectacular, image-rich book 'Dual Coding With Teachers'.

Ideal book for new or trainee teachers pedagogical techniques and strategies in step by step instructions with visuals for those who don’t like to read lots of texts. Great book for dipping in and out of when the need is there and it is layed out in east to find sections.

This book is a ‘must have’ in your teacher toolkit. As a reluctant reader, it is so well laid out and easy to read. Every trainee and mentor should have a copy to dip in and out. I bought a paperback and kindle version so that I have it everywhere I go.

Any teacher wanting to improve their classroom practice needs this book. It’s easy to digest, clearly laid out and doesn’t get too bogged down in lengthy explanations. You can tell that each walkthru has been backed up by the latest educational research and I’m looking forward to getting back into class to try some of the ideas out.

This is great content, read on the Kindle App. But a real shame it's not suitable for my Kindle, which means it's harder to read and ultimately I get less out of it.The content is excellent however, I found it very thought provoking and inspiring, as well as practical. I regret not having bought a paper copy.

I think this is an excellent book. I'm particularly impressed at how much Oliver Caviglioli's illustrations and diagrams render the material so clear and accessible. The process of presentation of the material in the book is so well thought out, and the process is beautifully explained as well.I particularly enjoyed the summary of Willingham's book, and the introduction to Dylan Wiliam's work.This walkthru model makes knowing about key elements of teaching really accessible. Overall, a very powerful guide for teaching - I recommend it wholeheartedly.
