I wanted a beautiful creature design that’s not a step by step how to draw book but more of an insight into the creative process of different artists, from research to studies, to sketch to final design. That’s exactly what this book is!Different artists designed beautiful creatures in their own style and the way is written makes you want to keep reading.Definitely recommend! :)

Do you like mythical beasts? Do you like minotaurs and krakens and stuff like that? Furthermore, do you like drawing them? If you're finding that you're nodding your head then this might just be the artist's guide of your dreams. Call of the search, you've found that elusive hardcover reference book you've been looking for! It's crammed with 30 artists' interpretations of creatures from folklore along with their research and design ideas. Fab stuff.

This book instantly became one of my favourites in my collection. I've always enjoyed fantasy artwork and I enjoy seeing the sketching and planning process just as much as the final product. A supremely talented group of artists have each been assigned a creature to design in this book, and each give you an insight into their thought process and how they implement their unique styles in their creations. I was already following some of the artists featured in this book on Instagram and instantly recognised their work - not because I had seen these particular drawings before, but because their individual styles are so unique that their work is instantly recognisable as being theirs, which is the sign of a great artist. Worth every penny

Really great, detailed, professional book. Great for inspiration and training alike for intermediate to professional. I bought as a replacement for a mythical creatures art book after being disappointed with my first purchase and this was better in every aspect. Just a really gorgeous piece.

Was a gift for my daughter who is studying Animation at University. She is really pleased with this book. She especially likes the different sub-species ideas in it.

Love this book, as an illustrator who has a love for mythology this is the perfect book for inspiration and just for passing the time as a coffee table book. It’s beautifully illustrated and bound and full of great art.

Illustrators going through the process of designing mythical creatures.If you are trying to design creatures I'd recommend visual books on human and animal biology, along with 'imaginative realism:how to paint what doesn't exist'. Function informs design; Design informs function.

Beautiful book with thick glossy pages and a premium gold embossed cover. Make's a great gift for artists and fantasy fans alike. They could have made this book cheaper, cut corners, but they didn't. The author cared to make a book as artfully as its topic. I respect that. In a world full of cheap products, this is a real treat.
