About the Author
Ailie is an illustrator living with her family in the North East of England.
She loves dogs, lions, cycling, trees, violet creams, orange pencils, knitted toys and listening to ‘The Archers’.
Quite a number of years ago, Ailie studied Graphic Design, and then specialised in Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. Ailie uses a mixed media approach to her work – including a combination of acrylic paint, and pencils mixed with collage and photoshop.
Many things influence her work: nature and animals are a constant inspiration, plus 1950’s and 60’s children’s books, pattern and colour. Ailie is best known for her colourful pre-school and novelty formats.

This is a lovely story perfect for toddlers who are only just learning about the seasons. My two year old really studies the pictures, probably because there are lots of familiar ideas and scenes for her to relate to. The characters hear rustling leaves, collect acorns, pick juicy blackberries, splash in puddles, bake with friends, harvest fruit and make art with their Autumn collection.The copy I received is a sturdy board book with smooth, curved corners ideal for little hands. It would be a nice addition to a nursery school topic but would work just as well as a bedtime tale.

Very easy to read board book that my daughter loves. The illustrations are so sweet and she loves pointing out the bits she knows. Would be great for children between new born to 3.

Is a good book for young children, describes some of activities we do during Autumn and the kids love to see the children in the book doing similar things to them, the colours and pictures are pretty too.

I love these books because they introduce the seasons in sensory descriptive ways like wrapping up in a cosy fleece, collecting acorns, kicking crunchy leaves, picking juicy blackberries, baking warm tarts, making art. It's just a beautiful introduction to Autumn. My daughters loved this book so much that I've ve just bought the winter book from the same author and I plan to buy the spring and summer books too.

My 3 year old really loves this book. She learned all about leaves and everything autumn from it. Super Cute.
Lovely book
My 20month old son really loves this book and so do I. It covers various activities that can be done in autumn, from kicking fallen leaves and jumping in puddles, to spending time indoors baking with the seasonal produce. The illustration work is perfect if you're looking for realistic portraying of things (so if you're interested in Montessori, like me, you can be assured that you won't find personified animals and objects for instance, or other fantastic elements) and the text is simple but effective in describing what goes on in each picture (it's not a story with a beginning and an end). The rather thick pages are also easy to turn for a young toddler. I am going to buy the other seasons in this series for sure.
