Excellent as ever. CGP are the only guide which fully seems to understand the needs of students from all levels.

This is an excellent resource for anyone who is studying English at functional skills level 2. It’s not just for someone at school, although it would be excellent for just that purpose. As it’s for the functional skills syllabus it has a broader approach than the specific GCSE examination, however there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be of use for preparation and reviewing skills in the approach to the subject. It’s worth knowing the difference though as the various syllabi change each year so there will be elements in this package that don’t cover the stuff you’d need for a GCSE. I’ve worked in education for most of my adult life and I’m a proponent of the functional skills approach as it takes out the pressure of examination which I believe contributes to poor pass rates: functional skills tends to focus more on everyday skills and the information in this pack covers the full range of grammar and comprehension that will be useful to people of all ages. One of the best aspects of the pack is the inclusion of a web link to access answers and further reading. That’s an excellent resource as it means the product is as up to date as possible: as targets change all the time in education that’s a very useful support service. It’s a great investment for anyone who’s studying for themselves, but as in my case it will also be useful for helping my grandkids as they move through their secondary school studies.

A brilliant pack choice for students, this set is very clear and concise and ultimately offers a great deal of help for students on this subject.Ideal for many levels where a little more help is needed in English, we're using this for my son who is prepping for his GCSEs but has always needed that extra boost in this subject. I do however think these booklets could be handy for many circumstances (adults returning to learning, and those with English as a second language, for example)Though we never seem to use the online extras included with CGP packs, it's always handy to know you can access them (and I think for these specific types of English booklets, that option will be very useful for many)Overall, a good low price for quality study aids.

My kid is preparing for his 10+ exams. This pack has been super useful material for additional practice.Good:1. Individual booklets for all three sections2. Online material for flexibility3. Good compilation for questions and exercises.3. Reasonability priced (I couldn't find better price elsewhere)

My children have been brought up on the CGP guides to help them prepare for the 11+ and the first years of big school. I am not really sure what the Level 2 qualification is but as English is an area my daughter struggles with and because the books are always so well produced and engaging she has been engaging well with it to practise some skills. Each of the three booklets covers reading, writing and communicating. Unlike the 11+ books there is lots of guidance and exercises to practice and each is good to follow along. This is just a bit of side practice for her which she dips in and out of but the guides seem comprehensive and well structured.

As a teacher who delivers Functional Skills courses, I found this pack well thought out and useful for both independent learners and classroom use. It includes multiple booklets covering all the key areas for Functional Skills English Level 2, as well as access to an online edition and audio resources.The layout is clear, with straightforward explanations and plenty of practice questions.The standout feature is the included digital code. It gives access to an online edition of the book, all the answers, and additional practice materials. This makes it much easier for learners to check their work and revise independently. The audio resources are also a great bonus for developing listening skills, which are often difficult to practise. Recommended!
