I got this as one of daughters has picked Spanish for her GCSE language pick. While She has also done some Duolingo, this will be more useful and come in handy in the coming years. While there are yearly editions to these books, the content (and the language itself) won't change much.I gave up Spanish before GCSE because I was already doing French and Latin and thought a third language would be greedy (English doesn't count). While I love the Spanish language, my teachers weren't the most inspiring and I had studied it least out of the three. I didn't have a handy guide like this at the time, but it would have been beneficial.Like the AQE/11+ guides we have used in the past from this company, this format functions in a similar way with sections on a variety of key topics broken into manageable chunks, presented clearly, and with questions and examples to run through independently or with a parent who who claims to remember their A-Level Spanish from the year 2000.The book is focused on vocabulary, but it isn't just a glossary of terms; instead it offers suggestions on the types of questions and topics which come up in an oral and listening exams. It will give a question such as 'what did you last summer', and offer a variety of possible responses from 'I watched Liverpool secure their 20th League Title', to 'my friends and I accidentally knocked over some guy and now he has come back from the dead and is picking us off one by one'. Ay Caramba!With a strong foundation in the language and curiosity and desire to learn and succeed, this book will help push your ability to the next level.

This book covers the Edexcel syllabus for both Higher and Foundation levels.There are thirteen sections of questions, one section of general content, nine sections covering the six themes of the Edexcel syllabus and one covering grammar plus there is a section of answers and a unique code to access the CGP revision hub to hear the listening parts nad how to correctly pronounce in Spanish the speakjng exercises.Each section is further broken down into more specific subjects.Each subject has questions covering both Higher and Foundation level, the level it is aimed at being clearly marked in the margin.Each set of exercises is also clearly marked as “reading”, “writing” or “listening” on the margin.For all listening exercises there is a QR code to scan to access the Spanish speech in order to translate it to answer the questions.At the end of each section there are several pages of exercises covering the full range of subjects covered followed by three separate sets of mixed questions aimed at Foundation level, mixed Foundation & Higher, and just Higher level so the student can guage the level they are currently working at and see if they are improving.The last three sections are purely cover grammar, this is all written only, covering nouns, verbs, adjectives , tenses, negatives etc..At the end of the book all the answers are set out along with transcripts for the listening and speaking activities.The teen soon to sit GCSE Spanish took the book into the deepest depths of the bedroom to “test” it . I retrieved it after several weeks of no feedback and was pleasantly surprised to see despite no feedback it has been used. The teem finds the speaking and listening exercises in particular to be invaluable, plus the end of subject questions to judge how it’s all going.This is another well structured, invaluable revision tool from CGP that I have no hesitation in recommending.

We've previously picked up the Edexcel vocabulary book and revision guide book prior to picking up this exam practice workbook. We were impressed with the other two books and so were looking forward to trying out this one.The current price is a fraction over £6 and at that price it's a great book to complement your Spanish learning whether that's GCSE or just online learning through Duolingo etc.The book kicks off with a link to a revision hub and a personalised access code (single use).The book covers everything from reading, writing, listening and speaking exercises and grammar for good measure too. You even get model video answers to reference.All the relevant themes are covered from personal world, lifestyle and wellbeing, neighbourhood, media and technology, studying an my future, travel and tourism and concluding with grammar.The book mixes things up as it goes along with no boring, standard approach - it mixes up different strategies as it goes with a good mixture of pictures, tables inserts and QR codes out to the listening exercises and example video answers. This is quick and easy.My only real criticism about the whole thing is that only the covers are in colour - all the other pages are simply in black and white. This serves the purpose OK but is nowhere near as exciting or inviting. I'm not sure why this is either as the complementary revision book and vocabulary book are colour pages throughout too, so that's a real shame (I was expecting this one to also be in colour).Therefore, 4 stars from me.
