I acquired this as one of my daughters was unsure whether to choose Spanish, French, or both for her GCSEs. She went with French, given the fact she has been learning it for a year longer and enjoys a baguette. This exam prep guide will come in handy over the next couple of years, alongside what school will teach her. While this is a 2026 edition, the guides rarely change much in terms of content, and the language itself won't change much (unless certain dictators get their way).I studied French for GCSE back in the hazy, latter days of the 20th Century - I never felt too confident in my abilities, but somehow ended up with an A. I didn't have a handy guide like this at the time, but it would have been beneficial and perhaps given me a little more confidence going in to each exam, and garnered me a few additional marks.Like the AQE/11+ guides we have used in the past from this company, this format functions in a similar way with sections on a variety of key topics broken into manageable chunks, presented clearly, and with questions and examples to run through independently or with a parent who who claims to remember their A-Level French from the year 2000.The book is a full exam prep, covering vocabulary, grammar, audio, and verbal tests. It suggests the types of questions and topics which come up in these exams. Like those 11 Plus Practice papers, there are tests with scores, answers, and instructions on how to mark. Perhaps the biggest difference from when I was studying is the online version - scan a QR code or enter your unique key online and get access to online material, including audio. This truly enhances the revision experience - in my day I was going from memory or simply reciting what I felt was the correct pronunciation.With a strong foundation in the language and curiosity and desire to learn and succeed, this book will help push your ability to the next level.

A really solid workbook for anyone prepping for the next AQA GCSE French exams (starting from 2026). The exercises are well-paced and feel varied—lots of listening, reading, writing, and translation that reflect the exam layout. I particularly like the online audio tests and RevisionHub support—they give a sense of how well you’re doing and help tackle weaker areas. It’s well-structured, and the explanations and examples are clear—even if your French is a bit rusty. Not overly glossy or intimidating, and sections are broken into manageable chunks that make regular practice feel doable. A sensible, no-nonsense resource if you’re aiming to feel confident heading into the exam season.

I bought this CGP GCSE French AQA Exam Practice Workbook for my 14-year-old son, who’s starting his GCSE preparation early, and it’s been such a helpful tool. The workbook is really well laid out — clear, not overwhelming, and covers all the key areas like reading, writing, listening, and speaking.What he finds especially useful is the access to CGP’s RevisionHub, particularly the audio clips for listening practice. It’s helped him get more confident with understanding spoken French, which he usually finds challenging. He likes that the exercises are bite-sized and manageable, so he can do a few pages after school without feeling overloaded.The answer section also means he can check his work himself, which has been great for building independence. It’s become a regular part of his weekly revision, and I’ve noticed a real improvement in both his vocabulary and grammar.Highly recommend for any parent with a child preparing for French GCSE — it’s practical, engaging, and genuinely supports what they’re learning in school.

CGP's resources for the old spec were top quality and these are too. As you'd expect its all fully available online with mark schemes and audios.Exam practice seems good -- will have to see how well it replicates the real exams when they're first taken.

This textbook by CGP for structured revision and learning provides all the revision and practice material for GCSE AQA Foundation and Higher level French students (for exams from 2026 onwards) as well as giving the casual or former student linguist a chance to test their memory and understanding of the subject. Sections are clearly marked to indicate which tier they are targeting.Included at the front of the book is a 16 digit code to unlock the online edition of the book and all the practice materials, including the audio tests. Alternatively, these can be accessed via QR codes from within the book. Note that the access code can only be used for one person (for copyright reasons) so if purchasing the book second hand, you should ensure it is still valid if it is required to be used.The book can be used as a stand alone guide without the need for digital extras, as the answers to the exercises are printed at the back. However, the online Revision Hub is a great resource offering quick quizzes and most helpfully a repository for all the questions answered incorrectly so that you can easily re-visit just the ones you got wrong.In summary, it’s a comprehensive user-friendly learning tool which will without doubt enrich the user’s understanding and appreciation of the French language.
