You don’t feel obliged to rush out and buy the latest beauty trends or gadgets. Real beauty is much more than just good skincare or makeup, and the bigger picture includes self-care, nutrition, sleep and exercise.This is genuine advice and aimed at everyone, whether you’re a beauty novice or more clued-up on your beauty routine. I thought I was quite knowledgeable but even I learned something new. My teenage daughter grabbed it out of my hands when it arrived and couldn’t put it down. She absolutely loved the guide to identifying your skin type.I also like the case studies/Q&A sections, so you can dip in and out to find an answer to a question without having to trawl through the whole book.Finally, thank you Alison for including lots of information about dealing with menopausal symptoms and the impact on your skin and general health. This is so helpful.Congratulations on your book, Alison. It’s just what I expected from your huge amount of beauty expertise - straightforward, clear and above all, honest advice.

I’m writing this only 44 pages in to this book as it is so good. It is written in an informative but chatty manner. It’s like Alison is talking to you directly, just like when watching QVC. I’m on the skin section at the moment and I’m excited to try and improve my acne and get to grips with my combination skin. I’ve just taken a peek at the Contents again and there’s chapters on make up and hair coming up. It will be good to get advice on skin colour matching as I know that sometimes my make up doesn’t look great on photos. I have a great hairdresser so I don’t need to put a lot of effort with my hair but there maybe some good tips in that chapter too. There’s a chapter near the end of the book called ‘Beauty and Beyond’ that sounds interesting as real beauty shines from within. If you have a beautiful personality and are kind and giving your beauty will shine through.

Alison Young is a just so good at giving advice about skincare given the qualifications she has in the industry and how long she’s been in it, i dont think there is any skin/makeup problem she doesn’t know the answer to. She has tried and reviewed so many different products enabling her to give some brilliant advice in this book, I highly recommend it I personally have waited years for her to bring out her own skincare bible.

It is very easy to understand and read. In my opinion it is a book for an absolute beginner. Would be a lovely gift for a teenager. I also found some information in the book contradictory to advice she has given on QVC on a couple of subjects. Obviously when on QVC she is a saleswoman rather than a beauty expert which is a shame as I thought I have learnt lots of great tips from her on TV in the past but now according to her book the information is wrong. Some grammatical errors found in the book.

This book delivered exactly what I expected from Alison Young whose beauty advice and tips (on QVC) have been tried and tested by myself for 25 years - I am now 48. Alison’s honest and expert advice has served me well over the years and this book is an encyclopaedia of advice, organised well throughout, making it easy to find relevant sections if you wish to dip in and out (as I know I will). Not only will my mature skin benefit from this book, my teenage daughters and (even) my husband will benefit from Alison’s wisdom too. An amazing book, cleverly written as the advice will never date due to the fact that product brands or not mentioned or endorsed. Thank you Alison for sharing your advice and putting this book together, now I have all your wonderful beauty advice in one place that I can refer to over and over again.

I've been listening, watching and using Alison's advice for about 20 years so was pleased to get a copy of this book.Some of the information may be basic to a seasoned skincare user but this only means that the book is suitable for all ages. From young women considering their first skincare range to more mature beauty users like myself. This book is definitely worth a prime spot in the beauty library of anyone who is interested in clear, healthy looking skin. Guys may find it helpful and possibly an attractive read in our ever increasing world of male grooming. It's not a glossy overtly feminine production but the written content is more important in my humble opinion. Overall an enjoyable and educating volume..

I have listened to Alison on QVC for many years and have learnt such a lot of useful information for my mature skin. I read this book cover to cover and learnt lots more ! I will definitely dip into this and have already hilighted some tips so I remember them. This is almost but not quite ,as good as it would be to have Alison on hand to answer your queries! How brilliant would that be! Alison is always honest in her advice and her recommendations are achievable and this book is no exception. This will be a keeper for a long time so we’ll worth buying.

I have not put this book down since receiving it. I have followed Alison on QVC channel for 25+ years and her honesty and expert advice has helped me choose the right products for my skin, nails and hair, she is a powerhouse in every area of beautyThanks you Alison for putting all your knowledge and expertise into a no nonsense book, who’d have expected anything else from you. I have not put this book down since receiving it, I’m putting this on Xmas list for my friend and also for hubby to get my hard back version as I ordered Kindle version I now want hardback version.

Not really impressed.

One for me a and one as a gift. I ended up not giving it as a gift because I really didn't think it was worth it.
