He regularly presents photographic workshops, contributes to the photographic press, and judges and advises on international photography competitions. This is his second book published by Crowood.

I have been a committed photographer for just over 25 years and during this time have followed the work of John Humphrey through his books, presentations and individual gallery images. This latest work, "Creative and Experimental Photography" is his best offering yet. It broaden's one's thinking on creativity which is so vital in this age of digital imagery. To get the viewers attention of your work is essential. John offers many solutions and easy to read advice on how to do it. It is well written with plenty of advice and beautifully illustrated with his results. The book will be a 'go to" when one feels the need to explore. I thoroughly recommend it to you. It should be on every photographers book shelf.

For me this is a very useful, interesting, and inspiring book. It is a clearly written, practical book illustrated with some outstanding images. The emphasis is on photography as a creative art, and this book excels because it covers both the equipment, techniques, and thinking involved in producing outstanding images.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The ideas and information were so easy to follow and understand, and remained interesting all the way through. I was really sad when I read the last page. All I have to do now is to read it again!

As someone who draws & paints with a renewed interest in photography which would also help my other visual art, I was looking for a book that took my photographs to a new level. I had also become increasingly interests in the grey area between painting and photography and this book covers this area extremely well, it also devotes attention to the area of creative macro photography, so a macro lens is on my wish list, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to move away from just point & shoot photography no matter what camera you use or just a smartphone camera. Good value for money too.
