He does a sensitive, subtle job of reframing the argument by focusing attention back on the artists, who fashioned a captivating hybrid style that drew on European and Mughal models. --Alastair Sooke, The Daily Telegraph

5.0 out of 5 stars Great catalogue not a great show
I loved the exhibition organised by William Dalrymple at the Wallage Gallery and this catalogue of the show is one to keep and enjoy for many year to come. I gave the book to a friend who also admires the skill and beauty of these Indian painters and he loved it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Next best thing to going to Wallace Collection London
Being interested in India I was disappointed to find the Exhibition at Wallace Collection London was finishing before I could visit it so …… as I often do I bought the catalogue, being F.M:I.P.for the E.I.Co.Very glad I did. It arrived quickly without any delay and I am still enjoying the illustrations and narrative.

Academic yet quite accessible. Some astounding pieces in various genre ... and names we're now glad to know. Brilliant.

Beautiful art
Present for a friend. He loves it
Hold the past in your hands...
This book is a masterpiece, I just loved it! Lots of paintings dating back from East India Company's time. The paintings are elaborated and explained very well by the authors! It is not just a kind of catalogue but a hand held device for these magnificent and veiled paintings which could be deciphered by the same. William Dalrymple and other authors has worked really well in this. Hope you will enjoy! Thanks for reading :)Have an awesome day!
