This book is a must have for anyone considering becoming a Business Analyst, or looking to progress in the field. It covers everything you need to know, from what business analysis is and what a BA does, to BA training options and common BA techniques.Although there are other great books on business analysis they tend to focus on day to day techniques and not getting into the field or progressing. This book fills that crucial gap, and being published under the BCS brand, you know ‘Business Analyst’ will become a standard reference book in the subject for years to come.This book is well researched and is a balanced look at the profession and the different training options. It includes real career case studies of real people (including Debra Paul, co-author of several standard BA reference books).‘Business Analyst’ is a book I’d recommend to anyone looking to get into business analysis.

This excellent book is essential reading both for anyone considering a career in Business Analysis and experienced Business Analysts who want to reinvigorate their career journey. The structure is easy to follow, starting with why the role is needed and then going on to describe in detail what it’s like to be a BA and what is in the BA toolkit.The balance between tips on how to use tools and techniques plus guidance on how to get a BA role is invaluable advice for everyone. I really like the stories to illustrate points and the case studies which help bring to life what it is like to be a BA and the variety of careers that can be created within this growing profession.I highly recommend this book both to anyone who wants to know more about being a Business Analyst

The job title “business analyst” has only existed for a decade or so. Yet today, hundreds of thousands of people have this job title, and tens of thousands more are considering acquiring it.
