Ho acquistato altri libri di Sasha Duerre che ho gia recensito. Questo libro è entrato a far parte dei miei tesori. Lo consiglio vivamente ad esperti e neofiti del settore, è un libro utile per studiare le palette dei colori naturali. Molto sintetico, non ci sono approfondimenti, ma le palette sono ben calibrate. Io ho acquistato la prima edizione in inglese, ma esiste una edizione italiana successiva.

This book is definitely a gem of color information for a point of reference. The only way I can compare this book is to a paint store who provide limitless swatches of endless colors. This book is JAMMED with names of the plants, 4 colors from the plant. EXCELLENT DYER'S BIBLE for plant/color references to give a better idea of the result and a foundation to work from.
An extensive and gorgeous color palette of nature's untold stories
"Natural Palettes" is a gorgeous index of hues - colors that can be pulled from the flora in your backyard, even your compost bucket. Knowing that we can extract such beautiful colors from leftover fruit peels or fallen leaves makes the idea of toxic fabric dyes all the more infuriating. Duerr is leading the charge of “Slow Fashion,” just as “Slow Food” has done for the food industry.I love how Duerr takes us along the beach, into the redwood forests, showing us the colors that can be found in nature - from Hawai’i to the California coast, to the Southwest. This book will NOT teach you how to naturally dye. For that, you need Duerr’s previous book, “Natural Color: Vibrant Plant Dye Projects for your home and wardrobe.” “Natural Palettes” is the addendum to her last book - showing you the breadth of colors that can be created when dyeing with natural ingredients.As a cooking instructor, who tries to teach my students where our food comes from and the stories behind them, not just the recipes, this book is an inspiration. The stories behind the ingredients, their healing powers and history, has me realizing that the foods I teach my students about have so much more story to tell -- a whole color palette of tales.

I’m so delighted with and inspired by this gorgeous and impeccably researched book. Equal parts natural and cultural exploration of plants, luscious color palettes and sustainability manifesto, this book explores the way we are connected to the natural world and inspires us to further explore the infinite possibilities of color that nature provides. The timing of his book is essential as we struggle to reconcile our relationship to globalism and “fast fashion” and find ways to be more connected to the hidden offerings of our environment. Duerr’s writing is lyrical and and descriptive and strikes a balance between being aspirational and accessible. Natural Palettes is the perfect armchair travel guide at this moment in time, invoking the calming tones of the California coastline, vibrant hues of the Big Island and the pastels of a New England orchard. I’d recommend this book to anyone interested in art, sustainability, plants, environment, design or fashion!
