About the Author

Matthew Richardson is Curator of Social History at Manx National Heritage and was formerly Assistant Keeper of the Liddle Collection at the University of Leeds. He has a long-term interest in military history and has published several outstanding books on the subject including 1914: Voices from the Battlefields, The Hunger War: Food, Rations and Rationing 1914-1918 and Eyewitness on the Somme 1916. He is also an expert on the history of the Isle of Man TT and worked with Dave Molyneux on The Racer s Edge: Memoirs of an Isle of Man TT Legend.

Matthew Richardson here takes us on his personal selection of highlights from the history of the legendary TT races held on the Isle of Man since 1907. Even for someone like me with little interest in the mechanics of the bikes themselves there is much here to impress as the book focusses more on the thrill of the race as told by the riders and also in its descriptions of the Island itself. There are many characters like John Surtees and Geoff Duke who pepper the stories told throughout this book and the changes over time where riders had to get off and push their bikes up some of the hills to the larger machines of today which conquer the Mountain Course with ease.The easy going style of the writing in this book makes it easy to read and is highly informative as to be expected by an archivist at the Manx Museum, well illustrated throughout additionally it is good to learn of the present day whereabouts, if known, of the bikes today.A brilliant addition to the literature on the Tourist Trophy and for anyone who is interested in motorbikes or just loves the Isle of Man.#TtTitans #NetGalley

Tolles Buch - in englisch !!!! Leider schlecht verpackt - und da es ein Softcover ist, ist es leider an einer Ecke lädiert angekommen.

Tout choix est par nature subjectif , mais il n'en demeure pas moins étonnant dans , ce petit ouvrage , de constater l'absence , par exemple , de la Norton "White Charger" de Steve Hislop ou encore des formidables Yamaha TD des années 60/70 . Autre grief , dans la période 1961/73 , aucune machine ne semble mériter sa présence parmi les " TT titans " . pour finir , on aurait aimer profiter d'illustrations qui mettent plus en valeur cette collection .de machines historiques . Une chose est certaine , l' auteur , spécialiste reconnu , n'est pas chauvin , il a omit aussi la JP Norton de Peter Williams !!!
