5.0 out of 5 stars Children’s Storybook
Great story, well thought out characters, kids loved it!
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
One if the best books I have in my colection of 115, would recommend buying for adventure loving book nerds like me
5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely!
Beautiful illustrations! My 7 year old son and I have really enjoyed this graphic novel so far. I actually proof read it first just to be certain it was suitable for his age group and ended up quite invested in the characters! I made myself put it down around the half way mark and my son and I, together, have read up until around the same part - so i'm still waiting to find out what happens! It's quite longer than other graphic novels aimed at children which is fantastic in my opinion as we can read it over a few sittings, rather than one.
4.0 out of 5 stars Short, beautiful graphic novel for younger readers
After Navin and Emily's father passes away, they move to their grandfathers abandoned house, since he went missing years before. A sinister tentacled monster draws the mother into a hidden underground world and of course, with the help of the Amulet, Navin and Emily have to follow. They quickly discover a mechanical rabbit, a giant robot and a house with legs. This book was really fun to read and the illustrations were, at times, incredible. I breezed through this quick graphic novel in less than an hour and immediately wanted to start from the beginning again (since I don't have Volume Two yet). The conflict in the story is resolved pretty quickly and doesn't hurt the brain when you're reading - making it the perfect graphic novel for younger readers. Despite the spooky content and monsters, the story is light-hearted and the illustrations make it child-friendly. I would have preferred the book to be slightly longer, since I felt the fast-paced drama made it appear a lot shorter than it was and I would have loved to have seen more of the world and gotten to know the characters a little better, so I'm invested enough to buy Volume two. Overall, I'd recommend reading this graphic novel, particularly if you're new to graphic novels and want something easy to get you into them.
5.0 out of 5 stars Younger readers. Hmm 46 is still young right?
I was looking for something quite a bit lighter than the usual dark comics that are usually aimed at older readers. I really enjoyed this, admittedly there wasn't much dialog as I would usually like. But have to remember, it's aimed at younger readers. But I think I'll stick with it. And can always pass them on to my brothers kids.
5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant read
Easy reading, fantastic drawings and packed full of none-stop action, if anything I'd say it could do with some calmer moments. I read this as an adult to proof read it for my nephews birthday present and even I was gripped, it's definitely for a mature younger audience but even I enjoyed it (at 40!). The conclusion to this volume does push for picking up further novels however, and I personally read it in one evening, so you may be best picking up a few novels if for a present.
5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for KS2 (or older) kids!
Bought this for friend's 9 year old daughter for christmas. She loved it. Read all of it in just a couple of days. We're pleased we didn't get her any plastic toy rubbish this time as many kids think books = boring presents. This one definitely isn't boring.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great but an expensive luxury
I wish they included more pages, it’s a great book and an even greater series but to buy every single one of these would cost around 100 pounds, in my opinion it is a bit pricey for around an hour reading time.
Fantastic series by a creative artist
Amulet, a graphic novel by Kazu Kibuishi (Flight, Volume One, Daisy Kutter: The Last Train), is geared towards the 9-12 age group. However, the novel will captivate anyone that begins to read it as they are swept along a moving story with beautiful illustrations. Our young heroine Emily witnesses the death of her father in the opening pages of this novel. Emily, her mother, and her brother Nevin move into the home of their missing great grandfather. There are secrets lurking within the house, one that soon ensnares Emily's mom. She's dragged from the basement by a tentacle through an open door and Emily and Nevin must go on a rescue mission to another world. This story captivates the reader from the beginning. The reader is compelled to feel for the characters of the story, from Emily witnessing the death of her father to watching her mom being dragged away by some unknown creature. Although this is only the first part of the series the reader gets a true sense of the characters, their feelings, and their emotions and is left hanging at the end of this book and wanting more. What really sells the story are the illustrations as they capture and convey the moods of the characters and their surroundings. The drawings have a light airy quality to them, with a simple, but moody, color palette to show off the extensive use of shadows to convey emotions of the character in graphic detail. The reader is never left wanting or wondering what the characters are thinking, the colors clearly display what they feel--the age of the great-grandfather is written into the lines on his face, the fear and courage of Emily as she seeks to save her what's left of her family. As the story progresses a darker palette is used and we are left wanting the lighter colors to return. Something unique about the drawings is that when the story first begins the characters almost look undefined. While we can read their emotions they are merely shapes on a page. However, as the story progresses they gain more depth and emotion. This novel is a must read. A strong young heroine, with monsters and robots as well, enough to keep any crowd entertained. The moving illustrations and compelling story make this a great read and the book is highly recommended for all ages.

The Stonekeeper's Curse (Amulet),The Cloud Searchers (Amulet)) gekauft. Ich kann es uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
