Batman A Death In The Family TP New Ed

Description:

In 1988, Batman readers were allowed to vote on the outcome of the story... and they decided that Robin should die! Jim Starlin's devastating graphic novel classic left shockwaves throughout the comic book industry, many of which are still felt today!

As the second person to assume the role of Batman's sidekick, Jason Todd had a completely different personality than the original Robin. Rash and prone to ignore Batman's instructions, Jason was always quick to act without regard to consequences. In this fatal instance, Robin ignores his mentor's warnings when he attempts to take on the Joker by himself and pays the ultimate price. Driven by anger with Superman by his side, Batman seeks his vengeance as he looks to end the Joker's threat forever.

This tale of loss, guilt and brutality is considered one of the most defining pieces in the Dark Knight's mythology.
Batman: A Death in the Family collects Batman #426-429.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great comic with 2 great stories.

M.M.W. · 16 January 2016

This Trade tells 2 iconic storylines from the Batman Universe the first "A Death In The Family" sees current Robin Jason Todd go off on his own in search of a mother he never knew he had. Will his recklessness finally be the end of Jason or will Batman be able to save him?The second story arc "A Lonely Place Of Dying" has Batman in a unfocused mindset following the events of "A Death In The Family" and he is taking risks that he wouldn't normally. This story is the origin of the third Robin - Tim Drake. Tim has learned the secret of who Batman is and searches out Dick Grayson to bring him back to Gotham to help Batman refocus. These are 2 very good and very important stories to the Batman universe and a must read for Bat Fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff

M. · 10 March 2013

I'm definitely a casual reader of The Batman series. Only have a few titles under my belt but I do enjoy them when I can. Death in the Family is a great read. It is a book of it's time what with the characters taking trips to Beirute and coming across Ayatollah Sayyid ( I think it's him, my 80's political knowledge is poor at best) and the plot is a little far fetched. With the recent films it's easy to forget it is based on a comic book and Batman doesn't have to be like the movie Heat all the time. Would recommend this title to the casual fan like myself or the hard-core fans (but they've no doubt read this already!). Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd robin dead!

R. · 1 February 2013

Well I was interested as I am only new to the world of batman I wanted to know how the 2nd Robin Jason Todd died, I like this novel as it not only shows you how Jason Todd died it shows you the actual add with telephone numbers that were used to vote to kill off Jason Todd. Then it was the start of Tim Drake's 3rd Robin fantastic novel. Only complaint I have is it shows you what would the end be if the public voted to save the 2nd Robin! By far 1 of the best batman graphic novels I own and have read

5.0 out of 5 stars A must...

C. · 28 November 2013

The Joker ambassador of Iran... One's gotta love this...The story is complex, tough, complex.. It is completed with the recruitment of the new Robin... The art is old school.I really enjoyed this and i recommend it to any fan out there...
