An Excellent Work!
While I've never read the original book, I have enjoyed other titles in the Goosebumps series. This comic book adaptation nails the frenetic energy you'd find in those. Goosebumps veterans should feel right at home; I know I did! Not just that, cartoonist Maddi Gonzalez's signature style is here in full force. It's plain to see, the fun she had while adapting this story. Me, I'm personally here because of Ms. Gonzalez's previous work. She doesn't disappoint with The Haunted Mask.The photo shows one of the less-exciting pages. I didn't want to give away too much!

This is a classic Goosebumps tale brought to life for a new modern generation. The Haunted Mask is not just a fan favorite story for folks who love the series but also R.L Stine's favorite Goosebumps book. It was based on a true story involving his son getting his head stuck in a frankenstein mask. For those who don't know the book is about a girl named "Carly Beth" who's fed up with being bullied because she gets scared all the time. So on Halloween she wants to be scary and get her revenge by wearing a mask. For the sake of spoilers I won't share what happens to her. You have to read it to find out. The illustrations are both comical and creepy. It is appropriate for kids. The book does have some gross humor but most can handle it. It's very faithful to the original source material. I highly recommend it. Readers beware you're in for a scare.
