Excellent and informative book.

German Armoured Trains of WW2 Vol. 1

C.D. · 14 May 2012

Wolfgang Sawodny ,the author of both Volumes of this book, has gone to great lengths to research his subject. The Photos alone make this & its accompaning Volume worth the investment. In Vol 1 he takes us through the early & WW1 European history of Armoured trains. This history is paid back in the twenties & the opening campaigns of WW2 as the captured Czech & Polish trains become absorbed into the German formations. He moves on quickly to the 1941 - 1943 , then 1943 - 1945 periods of their use.In Vol 2 he expands further on the history & formation of each train & seris & campaigns , due to the feedback & new information received from veterans reading the 1st book. Once again the Photos in Vol 2 are excellent , very few being repeated , but when they are , more accurate identification is provided.Highly recommended to Military Rail Enthusiasts & people with a intrest in this less publisised side of WW2 Military campaigns.Chris D
