This collection is carefully curated and beautifully presented, as you can expect from a reliable children’s publisher. Ideal as a gift for young children and babies. They will get years of entertainment out of it.All of the stories and rhymes included in this collection are totally suitable for children, because it does not contain any of the more problematic dark-themed or “classic“ rhymes that you might wish to avoid if the book is intended as a gift for someone else’s child. In other words, it’s a completely appropriate gift for a baby, toddler or young child.The rhymes it does contain are mother goosey, popular and beloved, the likes of hickory dickory dock and humpty dumpty, with gorgeous illustrations by a variety of artists. It also includes some popular stories as well as rhymes, like Spot the dog, and Beatrix Potter’s characters.A gorgeous volume with quality content, deserving of pride of place in a child’s nursery.

I bought this for my 10 month old daugther, as I think its important to read her stories and I was getting a bit bored with 'the very hungry catepillar' (a great book, but a bit repetitive after the 57th outing!).I'm really pleased with my purchase. It has a good variety of stories of differing lengths, so hopefully it will grow with her as she gets bigger. The pages are colourful with lots of pictures designed to appeal to children. There are also numerous rhymes throughout the book.I agree with the comments about this making a great gift - I have a friend who is pregnant and will get her a copy so she can enjoy this with her baby.Overall, a really good purchase

I love the collection of nursery rhymes in this book. I would have liked for a few more fairy tales to have been included, but the most beloved ones are there. The illustrations are very pretty.

I was gifted one of these when my baby was born and love the old age poems and rhymes in there, pure nostalgia. I gifted one to my friend recently.My daughter still loves it years later.

Bought for my future grandson due in January (and his parents of course). What an absolutely beautiful book this is. So many old favourite poems plus whole stories like Spot the Dog, Tom the Kitten and The Snowman. Wonderfully illustrated that I hope will be, not only a joy to read to him in his early days, but a pleasure to share the pictures with him as his joy and wonder of the world around him increases.
A Wonderful Treasury
I had a copy of this book many years ago when I was young and loved it so much! I unfortunately lost it over the years and after having my daughter I wanted to get my hands on it again. I could not for the life of me remember what it was called. I could picture it, but couldn’t remember the name of it no matter how hard I tried. After months of off and on googling I, by fluke, got insanely lucky and found an image of the cover! The timing couldn’t have been any better as it was a couple of weeks before Christmas so I was able to order it and have it to give to my daughter as a Christmas gift. So happy to have it again!
A beautiful book to read to children
All the rhymes, poems etc from my childhood and that my my children. Lovely illustrations to go with the words, plenty to read and point to when reading to small children.

The most beautiful and content rich book I have ever bought for my girl. Beautifully illustrated,has the best classical rhymes and stories,smooth and glossy paper finish and what not.i have fallen in love with this book already

...damit ist natürlich nicht das Buch, sondern ein Baby oder Kleinkind gemeint, dem man diese Reime, Lieder und Geschichten vorlesen mag, mit Freude vorlesen, singen und schließlich auswendig sagen mag. Es ist eine sehr, sehr schöne Sammlung mit recht hübschen Bildern und sollte weder englisch/amerikanischen Eltern fehlen, noch denen, die für frühkindliches Fremdsprachenlernen schwärmen. An diesen Baby- und-Toddler-Nursery-Reimen entwickelt sich Gefühl für Rhythmus, Musikalität und riesengroßer Spaß. Ein wahrhaft "precious treasury"!

per chi conosce le nursery rhymes e vuole un riferimento da sfogliare per cantarle insieme ai figli. E per chi non le conosce è un ottimo punto di partenza per impararle. Vi sono anche storie classiche più lunghe per i bimbi di 5 anni che affiancano le più conosciute nursery rhymes and lullabies. Il tutto è splendidamente illustrato da diversi disegnatori. Un libro to treasure sicuramente.
