EMOTNLY HLTHY SPIRITLTY REV SC: It's Impossible to Be Spiritually Mature, While Remaining Emotionally Immature

Description:

MORE THAN 1 MILLION COPIES SOLD!

A road map for discipleship with Jesus that is powerfully transformative.

Peter Scazzero learned the hard way: you can't be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. Even though he was the pastor of a growing church, he did what most people do--avoid conflict in the name of Christianity; ignore his anger, sadness, and fear; use God to run from God; and live without boundaries.

Eventually God awakened him to a biblical integration of emotional health and the spiritual practice of slowing down and quieting your life for to experience a firsthand relationship with Jesus. It created nothing short of a spiritual revolution in Scazzero, in his church, and now in thousands of other churches.

In this updated edition, Scazzero shares new stories and principles as he outlines his journey and the signs of emotionally unhealthy spirituality. Then he provides seven biblical, reality-tested steps to become emotionally mature:

  • Become your authentic self
  • Break the power of the past
  • Let go of power and control
  • Surrender to your limits
  • Stop to breathe by practicing rest and Sabbath
  • Learn new skills to love well
  • Love Christ above all else

Plus, check out the full line of Emotionally Healthy Spirituality books dedicated to many different key areas of life. Workbooks, study guides, curriculum, and Spanish editions are also available.

As a person who grows up in the church but straggles with unhealthy emotional spirituality (emotional immaturity )I enjoyed every chapter and gain practical wisdom to balance my holistic life .I am so glad to find this book, and I can’t recommend it enough

5.0 out of 5 stars Where have I been all this time?

M.M. · 25 February 2023

I found the EHS devotional in my son's house and borrowed it. Then I bought the book Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. From there I have bought four or five more books off the back of the author's bibliography and am still devouring. Bolo are happy with me. I AM IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE when it comes to so-called Christian books. Oswald Chambers does it. Bob Kauflin (Worship Matters). And now Peter Scarrezzo. I believe God speaks through him. He is learned, thought out and has an outlook on life that we share. I wouldn't say it has changed my life, but has shown me that I'm not that far from being OK. His nodding to our spiritual forefathers is SO comforting and so against the tide of modern theology. Bless you Peter Scarrezzo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even more helpful than Expected

R.I.A.S. · 21 March 2020

I had long heard of this book and how helpful it was to many, but in actually reading it I found it even more helpful than I expected.Skilfully Scazzero weaves the foundations and principles of why a personal rule of life is vitally important for the emotionally healthy disciple. He draws from the breadth and depth of the fullness of Christian traditions all with the ultimate aim to help the reader craft their own personal rule of life to follow Christ and to focus on loving him the most. I would thoroughly recommend as a must read.

B. · 2 March 2020

A helpful book giving insights into some of the hidden drivers that prompt us to behave in ways that we regret afterwards. It links aspects of our emotional health with spiritual maturity. Helpful illutrations from the author's life provide examples that bring the principles to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made me Stop and Think

R. · 3 January 2017

Peter Scazzzero calls the reader to stop and think about the way they're seeking to follow Jesus with their life. Most of it involves stopping and thinking more. I found this book thought provoking and challenging; I even bought several paper copies to give to friends. It's rare that I make it all the way to the end of a Christian book but this really held my attention and left me wanting to make changes to the way I live my life. Definitely recommended!

J.G. · 16 September 2015

An extremely challenging book that encourages the reader to examine their current Christian walk with God with the purpose of bringing balance between our Christian service and our personal relationship with God. It is, as I said, challenging but the promised result is a revolutionary realignment in ones Christian growth and development.

P.M. · 1 September 2022

A powerful read that challenged me to go deeper and tend to the most important things of life. In this book I was forced to face all the pain and frustration of my faith. As I unpacked the disappoinment and was encouraged to considered my emotional health, I found a new way of living out my faith. A way that brings the emotional and spiritual together!

Life changing.

A.N. · 25 July 2022

After having a heart attack at the age of 30, I realised that my life needed to change dramatically. This book has helped me to reevaluate my spirituality, to slow down, and has allowed me to breathe without feeling guilty that I wasn’t “achieving” something. This book is a great beginning point for the journey of emotionally healthy spirituality.

Emotional healing

This book helps you on a journey into deep emotional healing and reveals how God thinks about emotions

Essential Reading for Human Beings

T.K. · 22 May 2025

I don't recall my procurement of this book. I don't specifically remember any motivation or recommendation for its purchase. But I saw it in my Kindle library at a perfectly appropriate time in my life when, nearly 3 years into my marriage to an active alcoholic, I was considering divorce. Although the book is not focused on 12 steps or addiction, its focus on the individual believer's role and responsibility to be emotionally healthy and mature is appropriate for all situations, including mine, which certainly isn't unique. The moment I finished the last page, I made the decision to read it again immediately.I highly recommend this book for all persons because almost every scenario imaginable is covered! It's absolutely wonderful!!!
