I stopped buying cookery books until this one came along - well, at 78, I thought I had them all!The recipes are all so good to make, delicious to eat and a pleasure to look at. It’s well set out, colourful & culinarily appealing. Nor is it too tricky . Love it and off to get my ingredients now for tonight’s dinner! Thanks Dominic Franks!

I love this book. I am the cook in our family and my husband and kids are trying to help more and more. Dom’s recipes are fun and accessible and taste delicious. The upside down beetroot and onion tart is amazing. This isn’t a gimmick, it is a means of making real food accessible in a quick and easy way. I’m here for that in 2025 !!

⸻This book hasn’t even made it to the bookshelf!Everyone in the house—our pre-teen, the teen, and us oldies—has been flicking through it non-stop. The concept is so clever and refreshing: layer, bake, flip! The recipes are approachable but feel exciting, and the photography makes everything look completely irresistible. It’s rare to find a cookbook that genuinely appeals to all ages, but this one hits the mark. Can’t wait to try everything!

Disappointed that there are at least as many ‘not upside down’ recipes, as upside down. I feel the title is rather misleading.I wouldn’t have bough it had I known - I didn’t want soup, cake and pasta recipes.

Tart heaven ! Who knew that going upside down could be so much culinary fun! Written beautifully and illustrated to perfection Doms recipes and observations are a joy. A gem of a book that will deplete the stocks of sheet puff pastry and have you dying to bake flip & devour. Gorgeous book !

A new way of looking at pies and pastry
A great book, and a fab way of making sure your pastry is properly cooked and crisp. It’s inspiring, I have made the breakfast pie a few times now with my own changes when I didn’t have all the ingredients. Easy to read.
