This book was purchased in Waterstones in Oct 2024 and appears to show a 2024 date as the latest version. It is an excellent guide book packed with useful information as is good value at just over £8. It’s well worth getting BUT the pull out map in the back cover is out of date and in one case wrong. ( it’s the section showing Metro Rail System)It lists a gold line of the metro which doesn’t seem to exist, the expo line (line E) from Santa Monica is colour coded orange not light blue as in the DK publication, the line also goes on beyond seventh street metro centre to Bunker hill , historic Broadway and on eastwards to Atlantic.Secondly the blue line (line A) that comes up from Long Beach goes on beyond 7th street metro centre, ( the DK map shows it stopping there)through bunker hill, historic Broadway , little Tokyo before heading north via Union station to APU/Citrus college.Fortunately ( although a bit too late to avoid us unecessary metro changes from Union station to get to the Santa Monica metro line ) I was given a paper map at the metro information desk at Union Station dated March 2024 which was completely up to date. So if you get the chance get a copy of Metro System map Central LA/westside, from somewhere that has them, or Union station.Other than this and that Bunker Hill and historic Broadway stations don’t appear on the downtown Los Angeles street map that is also part of this pull out map. I have emailed DK about these map inaccuracies

This is a beautifully presented pocket sized guidebook of Los Angeles which is 160 pages long. It also includes a pull out street map in the back. Lots of full colour photos and smaller maps within, pinpointing each highlight/attraction. The book is focussed on top 10 lists of various things which could be of interest to visitors to the city and is all colour coded. It also has convenient little itineraries at the front, an area by area guide towards the back, and some useful tips for getting around, practical information and places to stay. Overall a handy, well-presented little guide, perfect for pre-trip planning and one that is easy to carry in a bag or pocket when you’re there. At the time of review this is £8.45. Highly recommended.

The media could not be loaded. I have a small collection of DK Eyewitness travel guides, from really small, city pocket ones to A5 size. I won't lie - they are my favorite amongst travel guides.This is a mid-sized guide of their Top 10 series. I already have one like that about Miami and if I visit the US one day, I will definitely try to go there and…visit Los Angeles (even though they're quite a distance away).LA is a huge city and a comprehensive guide would have to be equally huge. This is why the top 10 idea is a great one.I love the way these guides are made. They are laminated - not only it makes them look better, but also protects from accidental splashes etc.Inside there's lots of content, beautiful pictures, maps and then more maps. I love it!Maps are also laminated and they are of great quality. Clear, colorful and there's a scale on each as well as legend. Trust me - this is not as common as you think. The pull-out larger map at the back is the cherry on the pie…It basically has all the top locations marked, that are described in the guide, as well as other attractions. There's also a metro rail system map and more detailed maps of the most popular areas of LA. All of it laminated of course.The description inside the guide evolves around the main theme - Top 10 attractions. It gives you a snapshot at each first, then a detailed description after. You then get a section called Top 10 of Everything - best architecture, beaches, parks, children attractions, restaurants etc. These are the ones marked on maps as other attractions.Then you have information about each area of LA and finally the tourist ‘know how' - all the practical stuff to make the most out of your stay. This section also includes addresses and price brackets for recommended hotels.I am really confident this guide will be a great help when I finally wander into Los Angeles one day. I love the maps and the format. The price is just over £8 - it's simply a must have…Definitely recommending this guide!Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

I really like this series of travel guides. They are excellent quality and are filled with great tips and beautiful photography.This one is quite compact and would be very easy to slip into a bag or rucksack. It is mostly made up of themed top ten lists for things to experience when you’re in LA.There are loads of ideas for things to do and you can easily choose the lists that are of interest to you and the type of holiday you want to have.

This is pocket sized although a little taller than I expected. But, not really any bigger than most smartphones nowadays.I was expecting the content to just be things you can find online but while that's true to a degree it is very well put together. Maps, guides, suggested itineraries - it has it all.Excellent to be able to take with you but a lot of value in getting it before even booking a trip to LA because it will help to create a plan for while you're there.
Trying to locate where was Eaton fire, Malibu houses fire and actor Patrick Dempsey house
2024 Edition before the 2025 Wildfire: lots of maps showing where Pasadena, Hollywood, Malibu Beach, Ontario International Airport, Getty Center, Beverly Hill Hotels, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Rodeo Drive. However, this Guide edition does not show where all the famous Mansions and houses that were said to have been burnt in the January 2025 wildfire- the houses of famous actors: Anthony Hopkins, Governor Sandra Lee, Maria Shriver, Billy Crystal, etc This edition needs to be updated with YouTube reports and Google Maps
