I purchased this for my 5 yo son who loves poems.Our family are huge fans of Eric Carle’s art and stories and this book did not disappoint. The illustrations are simply stunning.The poems range from famous poets to global proverbs and Native American and Aboriginal tales.

Wonderful book, beautifully produced with some lovely rhymes and lovingly created illustrations. Great value and one to return to again and again.Also a wide range of animals covered and laid out clearly and with care.

This was a present for a very young boy to say thank you for helping in the garden. He absolutely loves it and is driving everybody crazy because he wants it read to him - luckily he has an elder sister who can oblige. It's proved a big hit. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

This book is excellent, lots of short story, with pictures and intersting information such as how to recognise an insect from other species. My 3 years old likes it as it has lots lots of animals in it from dinosaurs to insects to sea animals etc.... We have th big format A3 pages and the pictures come out alive with nice big writing easy to focus on for the little ones.

We love this book. Highly recommend as little one learns to talk - you will be constantly finding new animals to point at and enjoy.

とにかく絵が楽しい。英語の教材用に使えるかな、と思って購入しましたが、この絵を見ながら、色使いや形や迫力を味わうほうが楽しそうです。 教材として使うとしたら、i,q,u,v,x,zで始まる動物以外は、すべてのアルファベットで始まる動物が描かれていますので、文字との関連から使えるかもしれません。鳴き声が文字になったページもあるので、それも使えるかな。 添えてある世界中からあつめた詩（俳句の英訳もある）は、英詩のわからない私には難しいけれど、学びたい人には楽しいものかも。

this is not your typical eric carle book. this is a book of poetry, and it's much longer at nearly 100 pages. each page has a different animal with carle's gorgeous art style depicting the animal, and the poem is by a classic poet about that particular animal. some of the poets included are emily dickinson and rudyard kipling, but it's a big list. i wanted to get my nephew an eric carle book because he loves the hungry caterpillar, But those books are pretty short, and he's outgrowing them. So this a little more advanced book that's much longer, Definitely going to require a parent to help them read it if under 8 or so. my nephew just turned 4 and he absolutely loves it. i got the paperback version.plus, how cool is that blue octopus on the cover?
