What's not to like? The book does what it is supposed to do - providing a range of carols for choirs to perform their Christmas concerts, and the price paid was below the list price, so a welcome bonus.

Classic selection of carols for choirs - the clue is in the title! Saves having to cart bot the Green and Orange books around. Highly recommended!!

Carols for Choirs (mainly volumes 1 and 2 green and orange) has been the standard work for choirs for decades now, and the 100 Carols for Choirs (white) version provides a handy compilation edition with a number of extras both from volume 3 and elsewhere.With 50 in each of the other books it can't include everything but it gets most things.The pieces that I use that are missing from the white book are:Boris Ord version of Adam lay y bounden. (vol 2)Matin Responsory (vol 2)Second version of Away in a manger (vol 1)Maybe they are my own personal foibles, but apart from that the 100 CfC is generally more useful than the separate volumes. This does simplify matters if you are out carol singing as you only need one book, or if you are trying to sing in procession whilst carrying a library of books.This review is meant to be of the 10 pack, so that needs to be described.Obviously it contains 10 copies. Usefully they are packaged in a corrugated plastic box branded with the trumpeting angel motif, and it comes with a carry handle. Therefore it makes sense to actually keep the box set packaging as it makes it easier to carry them about but also provides protection for those months when the books are not in use.

A perfect selection of Carols! Been singing these Carols for years and great to have the music and lyrics.

Second to none in its genre. The best selection ( from the Carols for Choirs series of books by the same publisher etc ) and the best arrangements. Brass parts also available separately for some of the classics such as “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” etc. Unrivalled.

The masters do it again!
I had the pleasure of participating in a workshop with David Willcocks, and received this book as part of it. It was first published in 1987, but Sir David had some amusing anecdotes to share about how he and John Rutter, another name to reckon with in choral music circles, put it together.This is what I like about it:* These gentlemen are giants in the English choral music scene, and personify the English choral tradition in everything they do. So it's a pleasure to find that they have included many carols from other countries, as well as the English ones. It's very hard to find non-English-language carols, so this is a nice little collection.* Their 4-part arrangements are imaginative but easy enough to sight-sing.* It also includes a listing of church festivals other than Christmas, with the names and page numbers of carols that would be appropriate for each.* For ease of navigation as you're singing, the verses are in Roman type while the refrains are in italics.* For reasons that are not clear, they have chosen to include the text in the original language in some cases, but not all. The foreign language texts are immediately under the English translations, so you can sing in either language.* At the very end of the book is the order of service for the traditional Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, with instructions on the appropriate rank of each person to read, from chorister to bishop.If you are only going to buy one carol book, this and the Oxford Book of Carols are the best ones to consider. The Oxford has more in it, and is hugely more expensive, so I recommend this one! it'll take you several Christmasses to sing your way through it.

Excelente Selección
Me gustó mucho la selección de obras dentro de este libro, desgraciadamente uno se queda con las ganas de conocer lo que los otros 5 libros de Villancicos contienen. Ya que son versiones y obras diferentes.No me gustó que la cantidad de villancicos latinoamericanos es nula y tampoco hay muchos espirituales (go tell it on the mountains, etc...).
For those who love a cappella and caroling
This is mostly a cappella arrangements. It is ring-bound so it opens flat despite its thickness (almost 3cm thick). But that means if you are not careful, you can pull the pages and tear the perforation. A great addition to your a cappella collection for years of fun caroling.
