Review

Carle's books all have an educational element – they teach about animals, numbers, colours and nature – but a big part of their appeal is that they are not didactic or laboured, but light and entertaining. There's warmth and humour there too ― Junior

Eric Carle . . . has an unfailing magic. His gentle, glowing collages are satisfying for parent and child ―

5.0 out of 5 stars Great children’s book.

Like the original book this one is amazing, repetitive, great illustrations lots of fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic introduction to animal conservation

K. · 27 April 2014

My daughter loved Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Polar Bear, Polar Bear so when i saw this I had to get it. It surprised me a little; the other two books contained what I consider to be 'basic' animals, ones that are well known and popular. However here were animals like Macaroni Penguins and Water Buffalo, and the ending focussed on stating how they were wild and free. It was a pleasant surprise and I'm glad we have it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great

L. · 12 September 2012

Bought this book for my almost two year old having bought other books in series, which she loved. This book is good but not nearly as good as Brown bear, brown bear.My little girl likes it but doesn't request it all the time, which she definitely does with brown bear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Baby loves it

S. · 29 April 2013

Clear, visually stimulating pictures and excellent patterned, rich text. It has a lovely momentum which makes it great to read aloud and is structured to encourage interaction. Lovely environmental message behind it but done subtly - it's not 'worthy'. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic

A family member with a son the same age as my son recommended this book to us and it hasn't disappointed at all. My son loves this book, so much so that we ordered the other books in this range. Highly recommend!

Classic

My toddler loves this book. She’s always asking what the animal is - it’s helping her build her vocabulary.

Bello

Molto bello, come tutti i libri di questo autore. Mio figlio ne va matto e lo leggiamo e rileggiamo.

Just like most Eric Carle books

M. · 11 October 2022

The kids live this one. Mainly my 4 year old who is also Autistic. But ideally it is probably most interesting to 2 or 3 year olds.Highly recommended.

Maravilloso cuento de E. Carlie

C. · 18 February 2025
