Janet Ahlberg (Author, Illustrator)
Janet Ahlberg, along with Allan Ahlberg, created some of the world's most popular picture books, including EACH PEACH PEAR PLUM and THE JOLLY CHRISTMAS POSTMAN, both winners of Greenaway Medals, and THE BABY'S CATALOGUE, inspired by their daughter Jessica. Janet died in 1994.

Allan Ahlberg, a former teacher, postman, plumber's mate and grave digger, is in the super-league of children's writers. He has published over 100 children's books and, with his late wife Janet, created such award winning picture books as EACH PEACH PEAR PLUM and THE JOLLY POSTMAN - both winners of the Kate Greenaway Medal. He has also written prize-winning poetry and fiction and lives in Sussex.

I have many happy memories of reading this and hunting through the pictures. Bought this for a new generation. It is a classic for a reason.

My 14 month old has a LOT of books, but this is by far his favourite. He brings it to us to read to him several times every day. It's very charming. A classic for a reason!

Purchased this for my 2 year old was a book I read as a child but the paperback book is so small, when it's placed in his book shelf storage you cant see it it's that small.

The media could not be loaded. We purchased the board book version of Each Peach Pear Plum for my daughter when she was a few months old. We have loved reading it with her ever since. It has also been remarkable to see how much she has continued to enjoy the book, and how she gets different things from it as she progresses through different stages in her development - she is now almost two!The illustrations are beautiful - second-to-none in my opinion. The text per page is also brief, which is great for short attention spans, though it is a slightly longer book than some; when my daughter was very little we would need to read it in stages. This quickly changed.The story centres around lots of different fairy tale, fable and nursery rhyme characters, with again, lovely illustrations of each to boot. It’s a marvellous way to introduce your child to different characters and of course to introduce them to the game of eye spy - a central feature to the book.It’s a brilliantly interactive book, for all ages. In our family we would initially point out the characters, then as my daughter has got older we would ask her to point out the characters. She now finds them, names them and can name some of the things they’re holding/doing. She really enjoys doing this. There also lots of other things within each picture for your little ones to ‘spy’. You could probably ask older children some good inference questions (I.E. what do you think Robin Hood is trying to do?)The one slight downside of the board book is it’s quality; the front page isn’t cushioned, like some other board books, and when my daughter has chewed the book in inevitable teething phases, the paper has become slightly damaged - in fact she did end up with some paper in her mouth. Perhaps something to be on the look out for to try and prevent with the little people in your life. Though I personally don’t feel it’s worth missing out on a classic children’s book for this!

Compré este libro guiada por las opiniones que hay en Bolo.co.uk y la verdad es que ha sido todo un acierto.La historia es una especie de "veo-veo" en la que los niños tienen que buscar en las ilustraciones personajes populares de las nursery rhymes y fairy tales que están escondidos en las mismas. La historia está escrita en verso, por lo que es muy fácil recordarla y las ilustraciones son preciosas.Mi hija todavía no sabe hablar, pero va repitiendo toda la historia en su lenguaje.En cuanto al tamaño, no cojáis el de tapa blanda, porque es diminuto y el libro pierde una gran parte de su valor. Decantaos por uno de mayor tamaño si queréis disfrutar del libro y, en particular, de las ilustraciones. Merece la pena a pesar de la diferencia de precio. Como el color es importantísimo, yo tampoco cogería la versión kindle.

Lovely little book just right for sharing with baby
Amazing book
It's awesome n my son who is 3 Yrs old enjoys reading this very much.. the text is rhyming coz of that he has memorized the book very easily n now rather than me narrating it he has taken over the job of narration.. There are stories within stories.. Ahlberg's books are classics n this lives up to the expectation.. Every child will enjoy finding the hidden figures n the illustration is soothing .. Amazing bed time story.. Must buy in every kid's book collection...
Classic
I have this for my 18month old "reader". We love the details in the pictures, so many little things to point out. We like that the words are simple enough and uncluttered to recognize. Lovely introduction to other little story's rhymes within the story.
A wonderful book to read aloud
This book has a rhythm and rhyme to the words that make it fun to read to a pre schooler. The illustrations are a delight and have hidden people in the pictures.This purchase was for a great grandchild because I loved reading it to my children when young.
