This story blended in well with our classroom and excited the children with it's visual effects. You can tell that Eric Carle puts a lot of research, preparation, care and consideration into all his artwork. His belief in the influence and contributions of children is incredible and shines through on the turn of every page. It inspires even the most hesitant of children to unlock their imaginations and explore their own ideas.Their ideas generate a sense of confidence which then transforms into beautiful stories involving incredible journeys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome life lesson to be ourselves

I first read this with my 4yo nephew and as we read, we both got excited about all the different perks the chameleon wanted and thought it was clever getting all the good perks! As the story progressed, we realised how much of a burden having all those good perks from others are and it just doesn’t work because in life other people may seem like they have good perks that we wish we had but really, we have to learn to appreciate ourselves and find our own perks that works for us. Definitely changed the way I work and view of life.

Es un libro muy del estilo de la pequeña oruga glotona, con una historia sencilla y un bonito mensaje: sé tú mismo. Las ilustraciones, como todas las de E. Carle, fantásticas. Muy apropiado para niños que estén aprendiendo inglés.

Imaginative story, Beautiful artwork

A.C. · 26 June 2014

My 4 year old loved this book! Eric Carle's "The Mixed-Up Chameleon" is a story of a chameleon who He begins to wishes for features from other animals. The chameleon takes on aspects of various different animals - from flamingos to foxes, finally ending up in a mish-mash of hands, legs, wings and colors. Each page shows how the chameleon looks with the new added appendage - I think all children will like the imaginative artwork. The story ends on a positive note with the chameleon being happy with his true natural form. I liked the subtle story message of being happy just the way one is!The text supporting the pictures are simple and descriptive. This book is good to read aloud to younger children and also suitable for beginner readers.
